Fresh 48 | In Hospital Newborn Session | Camp Pendleton Fresh 48 Photographer
As a Camp Pendleton Fresh 48 Photographer, one of my greatest joys is getting to photograph an In Hospital Newborn Session! I love these sessions because the world is still so new to the parents, and the baby. I also love when other siblings are involved because their lives are about to change so much, as unaware of the change as they may be.
As a fresh 48 photographer, my goal is to capture the family's interactions and connections in a natural way. I love to just sit back and let the story tell itself while I document it.
When I got the call that Ella had arrived, I was so excited! I couldn't wait to meet her! I got to the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton and fell in love. She had the cutest, chubbiest little cheeks I'd ever seen. On top of that, she was such a good baby! She pretty much slept the entire time I was there. If that doesn't fool you into believing you'll eventually have a child just as "easy", nothing will. Haha. I loved watching big brother figure out who this new being was, why he had to share "his milk" and mommy's attention with her.
I was able to catch some moments of big brother just checking out his little sister. The joy on his face reassured me that their relationship would grow to be a strong one (even if it takes a little time).
Mom is such a trooper. She's been breastfeeding her son for over 2 years now, and she now tandem feeds both of her children. She's a big advocate for breastfeeding and is determined to go as long as possible.
Dad had just arrived home from a recent deployment only a few short weeks before baby Ella arrived. I was so happy that their family was complete and whole at the time of her arrival, and I'm honored that I was able to be there to capture some of their first moments together.
