Baby Isla | Twentynine Palms Birth Photographer

As a Twentynine Palms Birth Photographer, I love the bond I form with my clients. Because these women, and these families, are welcoming into such a private moment, I cherish the relationship I get to build with them.

While still living in San Clemente, I had the privileged of meeting a wonderful doula, Britni. She is also a military spouse, so we were instantly able to bond over that. About a year later, Britni was pregnant. She inquired with me about having me as her birth photographer. It was pretty important she have someone there to document the birth of her baby because daddy would be deployed for this one. Now, I can't imagine having a child without my husband around, but the strength Britni showed was so touching to me.

I remember when she was booking me, her biggest concern was that she delivers very quickly. On top of having fast labors, I knew I'd be driving about 30 minutes (if traffic was nice to me) away in order to be there for the delivery.

It was at about 11:30 at night when Britni went into labor. She called. I answered. I left.
Whenever I'm on call for a birth, I make sure all my gear is already packed and ready to go, and it was. I left the house within 5 minutes of her phone call. I drove so fast (don't tell on me) that I actually beat her there! I was there with the midwives and her doula just waiting for her arrival. She got there about 7-10 minutes after me, and when she said she labors quickly, she wasn't kidding! Baby Isla was making her way into the world about 30 minutes later.

I love all my birth experiences. They are all unique in their own right. I never go in expecting anything, I just sit back and document it happening. However, this particular birth touched me very deeply. Britni delivered at Tree of Life in Encinitas, surrounded by women. This was so very powerful to me. To be one of those women. To be apart of something so beautiful, so wonderful. To see Britni's strength, and the encouragement of the other women who were there to simply allow her body to do it's own thing, naturally, was empowering! I am so very thankful to have been able to experience this with, not only Britni, but the other women involved. The midwives and her doula were so amazing. And her best friend was able to make it as well. Thank you, Britni, for allowing me to capture this moment for you and for allowing me to be apart of the experience.

(please note, while Britni wanted me to capture everything, including crowning shots, I am not posting those out of privacy for her and her family. It's important to know that I will NEVER show your most intimate moments)
